- For what applications would you use Andover's CoFlex TLC 2 Layer Compression?
CoFlex TLC is a 2 layer compression system used to achieve continuous restorative compression for treatment of venous leg ulcers and conditions that require compression as part of their treatment.
- What precautions should be taken when using the CoFlex TLC Compression
System?
Care should be taken to ensure adequate arterial blood flow prior to applying
compression dressings. Patients with an ABI reading of < 0.8 should not use the standard CoFlex TLC Compression system. CoFlex TLC Lite can be applied to patients with an ABI of 0.5 or greater.
- How often is CoFlex TLC applied?
Generally CoFlex TLC is applied 1-2 times per week per MD order and/or facility protocol.
- Is CoFlex TLC absorbent?
Yes. CoFlex TLC's Layer 1 has a light coating designed to wick away weeping serous drainage promoting a faster MVTR. This layer is not designed to be the primary dressing.
- Does CoFlex TLC come in different sizes and colors?
Yes. CoFlex TLC comes in the standard length (view brochure pdf for more details) and colour tan.
- How much compression does CoFlex TLC deliver?
CoFlex TLC provides pressures that are consistent with the other multi-component systems on the market. CoFlex TLC regular delivers 35-40mmHg of pressure and CoFlex TLC Lite delivers 25-30mmHg of pressure.
- What makes CoFlex TLC different from the other 2 layer systems on the market?
The patent pending base layer of CoFlex TLC is a soft foam with an absorbent coating that wicks away light serous drainage allowing for a rapid moisture vapor transfer rate that helps keep the peri-wound skin dry. The second layer of CoFlex TLC has a patented easy hand-tear that eliminates the need for scissors. The CoFlex TLC kit has a shear elastic stocking in each kit to be applied over the top of the system for patient comfort and ease of movement. CoFlex TLC Lite is also available for patients with ABI > .05.
- What is the purpose of adding a stocking to your kit?
The addition of the stocking allows for ease of applying socks and shoes. The nylon stocking also decreases sticking to clothing and bed sheets.
- Does the stocking increase the compression provided by the dressing?
Sub-bandage pressure studies have shown no significant difference in compression with the stocking in place.
- Will CoFlex TLC leave grooves in my patient's legs?
Both layers are applied with 50% overlap. This provides an even surface resulting in a smooth leg on dressing removal.
- Will CoFlex TLC slip or migrate down the leg?
Andover's CoFlex TLC Layer 2 has a patented fabric base structure that mechanically bonds Layer 1 and Layer 2 together. The bonding of the two layers results in a thin, low profile wrap that will not slip.
- What side of CoFlex TLC is applied directly on the patient's skin?
Each first layer is clearly marked with a sticker indicating to apply the blue side (absorbent side) against the skin.
